Improving Family's Eating

I have eliminated junk aka High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and trans fats from our everyday eating. I was inspired by a close friend who grew up on this great eating style. All the info was overwelming so we met a at a cafe and she told me all about it. I also researched it in depth online. I felt with the information I knew now regarding this junk we could not keep eating it. HFCS and trans fat lead to poor health such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. I read more about it online and of course Oprah had a show with Dr. Oz explaining the ins and outs of this junk. Later we began consuming milk without recombinant bovine growth hormone (RBGH)and eliminated sugary drinks and carbonated drinks including my fave, DR PEPPER. (Stepping back on what I just wrote, Wow really?! I had the strength to do that?!)

I will also share other health changes we have made. I feel like once I started to educate myself on our health it was a rush of information of things that were harmful to us. I had to take a deep breath and make the changes as we could. I've made these changes over time now notice I said over time it was not done in a day. Sex and the City, the movie was not created in a day neither were our changes. I sit here telling you about all of this and feel content that I have made these changes. Wow, that's me! I did it!!! I'm not done yet making healthy changes but I'm on my way. I will proudly share with you what I have done to save my Family.

The Polar Bears made me do it.......

In 2006 I was watching Oprah, well it was an eye opener like it often is. The show was about how our Earth is affected by how we live our life. Polar bears swim in cold waters and climb up on ice shelves to rest. The heart wrenching moment for me was when they showed a polar bear was not able to climb up on a ice shelf because it was too thin. Therefore, polar bears are drowning and will become extinct sooner. I could not believe what I was hearing. I was in tears. Polar bears have always been my favorite animal at the zoo. I wanted to change how I lived so I could do my part to save the Earth life. It is my desire to help make Earth vibrant for today and tomorrow. Oprah had a series of shows explaining steps you could take to live a greener life. I started to do my part to save the Earth and felt proud I was part of something bigger than me. With encouragement from my family and friends, I have decided to take this blogging adventure and share what green, life changes I have made.
